Schools across Inverness welcomed a wide assortment of colourful characters today for World Book Day.
Everything from witches and bears, to dinosaurs and turnips came out to play, bringing to life the creations of authors from Julia Donaldson to Michael Bond and many more.
Donna Murray, mum of 11-year-old Eliza, who attends Ness Castle Primary School in Inverness, said the day “brought so many smiles”.
She said: “We had such fun this morning. The day brought so many smiles. The Enormous Turnip was Eliza’s first and favourite learning to read book.
“We had to equal last year’s when she dressed up as Violet the blueberry from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!”
Earlier today we asked readers of the Inverness Courier to share photographs of some of their children’s costumes celebrating the day.
Here are some of the amazing outfits that were on display.
